When I was moving back here from the Tri-City area, I had to sell or give away a lot of my stuff. My friend Donna Louie told me about your foundation and I donated my Christmas tree because you guys didn't have one. My mother, Maureen Byrne, succumbed to breast cancer and passed away on November 12th, 1992. She loved Christmas and she certainly loved kids. For years I didn't own a Christmas tree or celebrate Christmas because it was too painful to be reminded of our loss. Nine years later, I visited an OB/Gyn doctor with my wife and learned I would soon be a father. Walking home from the doctor's office, feeling like I was walking on air, I remarked the date: November 12th. November 12th has become a date to celebrate, for me. We decorate our tree and crown it with the last gift my mother gave to me (to each of her children, in fact): an angel. If you were wondering when would be a good day to set up the Gaby Davis Foundation's Christmas tree, I would be happy to know another tree was bringing joy on your side of the Pacific on November 12th. Hello from Japan!
