So it’s a new year, a new beginning, a new start. What is to come this year? It really depends on our supporters, our fundraising and hopefully some grants along the way too.  Personally, I would love to help every family that receives a childhood cancer diagnosis this year…about 150 new cases this year alone in BC. That’s alot of fundraising!!! Okay, a more realistic goal would probably be about 15 families in 2010.  I’m hoping we can do it as I look ahead to what fundraisers we have planned.

Until January 18, Scan Designs Furniture stores across BC will be offering $200 off an Ekornes Stressless chair when you donate $50 to the Gaby Davis Foundation. So far, Scan Designs has raised close to $1500 on this promotion for the foundation! Way to go sales teams!!

On February 6, 2010 we will be holding our 2nd Annual Charity Poker Tournament…last year we raised about $3000, we are hoping to double that this year! So come on out and play some cards! It was a fun night last year for everyone, even those who didn’t know how to play poker at all.

In May, we will hold our 3rd Annual Garage Sale & Fire Dept. Car Wash, but it will be set up a bit different this year. We will be selling tables/space and then vendors can set up their wares and sell to the public. I’m sure we will have an amazing assortment of new and used items to shop for with great deals to be had at every table!  We will also have our great raffle draws (last year we had Westjet tickets!!! So who knows, maybe this year again?!) and activities for the kids and popcorn, and other yummy food.  We will invite the Fire Dept again…last year the Coquitlam Dept came out and our first year the PoCo Dept ran the car wash…so we’ll invite them both and maybe have a competition going between the two!!Laughing

In July, be sure to check out the Richard Brodeur Celebrity Golf Classic Tournament as we are one of the recipient charities of the proceeds of this great day of golf. We are so excited to be part of this one this year!!

November will bring another fundraiser, but that one is still in the works, so no information is available yet. Our November fundraisers commemorate Gaby’s birthday each year. So stay tuned!

And as always we welcome other businesses to join the charity’s goal of helping as many families as we can this coming year.  If you own a business or work for a great company we would love to partner with you for our cause. Take for example local real estate agent, Scott Leaf, he will donate $250 to the foundation for every house he lists and sells in River Springs. Remember, donations to our charity are tax deductible! We would love to work with you!

So again, we look forward to your continued support so we can continue to help families affected by childhood cancer in 2010 and beyond.

I wish you all a safe, happy and healthy year to come…
